Another beautiful winter day – 69 degrees! I’m enjoying this winter weather. Soon the weather will stay warm and we will be talking boating. Oh, wait - we already are!
The committees have been busy planning the summer boating schedules. April and May weekends are for boat clean up and Boat Orientations. June through September have 31 day or evening sails, 4 skills transfer sails on Monday’s in June, 6 weekend trips, and 4 more potential overnight sails.
Thanks to the Boat Show, we have three new sailboats in the club, providing more opportunities for our members on Lake Erie. Our fleet consists of 9 sailboats, 2 powerboats and 1 fishing boat – that’s a 33% increase in boats from last year!
COMING SOON! Our boat coordinators and web designers, led by Ed M, have been working on the NCSS website boating event sign up. Our plan is to debut this functionality at the March General Membership Meeting. You will be able to sign up anywhere you are - at your computer, on your iPad or on your Smart Phone. So you want to sail, do a quick check online, see what boats have available crew spots and sign yourself up. This will not remove the past policies of contacting the skipper prior to the sail. This will also not eliminate the paper sign up at the General Meetings. In fact, the past procedures of signup, General meeting paper signup sheets and calling or emailing the Boat Coordinators, will still exist. This new signup is for those savvy online users, (or wannabes) looking for a fast and easy signup process on the boat of your choice. Also, our members will see who has already signed up and on which boat they are on – much more information at your fingertips! So plan attending the March 15th General Membership Meeting at Cleveland Yacht Club to see the demonstration.
Happy St Patty’s day. Wear green - think Spring!
